Universal Connections Between Forces and Objects

An important but often overlooked dimension of the physics of the universe is how the forces and the celestial objects “communicate” with each other over very long distances. For example, in the theory of Special Relativity the speed of light and gravity is limited to 300,000 kilometers/sec or 186,000 miles/sec. If that were correct, the universe would have severe problems in “communicating” with itself.

To put it in colloquial terms, one side of the universe would not know what the other side is doing, at least not for millions of years.

Newton’s physics had the same problem, but he ignored it and just assumed that gravity would travel instantaneously between objects.

This is why his famous equation for gravity [F = GM1M2/r2] does not have a time factor, T, to show how much time it takes the F, or force of gravity, to react between two celestial bodies. As noted above in the section by William Rosser, this problem was solved in modern science by the recognition of General Relativity that the speed of light and gravity has no limit. In fact, this is precisely why Big Bang scientists use General Relativity to expand the universe, both in its initial stage (otherwise known as “inflation”) and at its latter stage (otherwise known as “accelerated expansion”). But there is an even more important and applicable reason that light, gravity, and inertial forces must move much faster than the conventional speed offered by Special Relativity. The reason is that the universe could not function or even exist with such minimal parameters. For example, we hold that a spherical universe rotates around the Earth on a daily basis. Since that is the case, the physics tells us that there is a center of mass around which that rotation occurs.

Since that is the case, then the universe must “know”—at every second of the day—where its center of mass is in order to rotate around it, and “know” it relation to everything else in the universe.

But to know where its center of mass is, the universe must be able to obtain this information instantaneously, just as Newton assumed it to be the case but couldn’t explain why. Obviously the rim of the universe is trillions upon trillions of miles away from its center. How can it then communicate with its center? Suffice it to say that in modern science, thanks to principles in the new science of “quantum mechanics,” we have an explanation for why light, gravity, and inertial forces can travel across the universe virtually instantaneously. A Planck-particle medium— which we suppose the universe is constituted— allows its minute particles (10-35m) to wave longitudinally, which makes the speed of gravity about 1069 meters/second, which is more than the universe would ever need.
